American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) is a prominent private research university located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Established in 1994 by Dr. Anwarul Abedin, AIUB has grown to offer a diverse range of undergraduate and graduate programs across its four faculties: Arts and Social Sciences, Business Administration, Engineering, and Science and Technology.
Campus
AIUB’s urban campus is situated at Kuratoli, Kuril in Dhaka, encompassing approximately 12 acres with a total building area of 1,300,000 square feet. The campus is renowned for its distinctive glass-covered central globe structure.
Academics
The university conducts all its academic programs in English, operating on a semester system with two regular semesters (Fall and Spring) and an optional Summer semester. AIUB offers a variety of programs, including:
- Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences: Programs in English, Media and Mass Communication, Law, Economics, Public Health, Development Studies, and more.
- Faculty of Business Administration: Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees with majors in Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Human Resource Management, and others.
- Faculty of Engineering: Degrees in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Industrial and Production Engineering, Architecture, and related fields.
- Faculty of Science and Technology: Programs in Computer Science and Engineering, Data Science, Computer Network and Cyber Security, among others.
AIUB is also the official education partner of the Bangladesh Cricket Board and the Bangladesh Football Federation.
Research and Publications
AIUB publishes internal academic journals, including the AIUB Journal of Science and Engineering (AJSE) and the AIUB Journal of Business and Economics (AJBE). Notably, AJSE is indexed in Scopus and holds a Q4 ranking in the Scimago Journal Rank. The university also launched the AIUB Bus Econ Working Paper Series, collaborating with RePEc and EconPapers.
Extracurricular Activities
The Office of Student Affairs (OSA) oversees various student organizations and clubs, fostering a vibrant campus life. AIUB has a history of participation in international competitions, including the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ACM ICPC).
