According to Google, Dhaka University (DU), established in 1921, is one of Bangladesh’s most prestigious institutions for higher education. Each year, it conducts admission tests for various faculties, commonly referred to as units. The admission process is highly competitive, requiring thorough preparation and awareness of the specific requirements for each unit.
Admission Requirements:
- Eligibility: Candidates who have completed their Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) or equivalent examinations in 2023 are eligible to apply. Additionally, applicants must have completed their Secondary School Certificate (SSC) or equivalent examinations between 2018 and 2021.
- Minimum GPA: The required minimum GPA varies by unit and academic background. For instance, Science students applying to the A Unit must have a combined GPA of 8.00 in SSC and HSC, with no individual GPA below 3.50. In contrast, Humanities and Business students require a combined GPA of 7.50, with no individual GPA below 3.00.
Admission Test Structure:
The admission test comprises Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and a written examination. The total marks distribution is as follows:
- MCQ: 60 marks
- Written: 40 marks
- SSC and HSC GPA: Combined, these contribute 20 marks (calculated by multiplying the combined GPA by 2).
This results in a total of 120 marks for the admission assessment.
Unit-Specific Details:
- A Unit (Science Faculty): This unit includes subjects related to engineering, pure sciences, and life sciences. The test assesses knowledge in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Bangla, and English. Candidates must choose four subjects to answer in both the MCQ and written sections.
- B Unit (Arts Faculty): Geared towards Humanities students, this unit’s test includes Bangla, English, and General Knowledge. The MCQ section carries 60 marks, while the written section focuses on Bangla and English, each carrying 20 marks.
- C Unit (Business Studies Faculty): This unit is for Business Studies students and covers subjects like Accounting, Business Policy, and Marketing. The MCQ section is 60 marks, and the written section includes translations and short compositions, totaling 40 marks.

Important Dates:
- Application Deadline: Applications are accepted until 25 November.
- Admission Test Dates: The Science unit admission test is scheduled for 15 February 2025, rescheduled from 01 February 2025. Test dates for other units remain as previously announced.
